You won’t believe how far your money can go!

Ever wished that there was a simple way to add a
special feature to your kitchen (that didn’t break the bank)? We took a look for some simple ideas that
create impact and style, but are do-in-a-day projects or products, and were amazed at just how many things you could do with less money than you’d think. We priced items at major national home centers and put together our collection of easy improvements that you can afford. It’s makeover magic!
Borderline (above): Molding is a lovely way to frame edges around rooms, doorways and windows, but this economic option does the same visual trick. We found a similar border for $8 per 15-foot roll, which would be more than enough to trim off a window or two!

Rustic Rack (below): A clever way to make use of an old ladder, this pot rack is created by some simple chain, screw eyes and hooks. If you like the look but don’t have a sturdy old ladder on hand, a trip to the lumberyard for some quick cuts will give you the base to craft your own, which you can finish to match your kitchen (and it won’t cost much more).

Hold Tight: Having the right glass for every occasion makes for a pretty table but can be a storage dilemma. Designed for mounting beneath a cabinet or shelf, Williams-Sonoma’s Stemware Holder hangs pieces securely. Your glasses will be at hand, the rims protected and the bowls dust-free. Leaded-Glass Lookalike:
For glass-fronted cabinets, this lovely detail adds an air of artistry. True leaded panels are a pricey feature, but you can fake the look using a paint-on version (try Liquid Lead, 800-735-7248). Simply remove cabinet doors, lightly mark measured lines on the glass, then use a steady hand to apply the paint that, when dry, will re-create the leaded look.
