Country rustic is right for an
1892 fixer-upper.
By Jennifer G. Cuthbertson
Rowann Sanders and Hugh Wilkerson merged more than their families when they married in the 1990s. Along with two children each, they brought the impressive collections of antiques they had gathered throughout their earlier lives. For Rowann, a Californian come east to Georgia, antiques had been a lifelong obsession, she says. Hugh came by his interest congenitally: His mother ran the Georgia antiques store in which Rowann would come to workand where they would eventually meet in the early 1990s. The rest is history, literally, and not just for the newly merged families: Rowann and Hugh have spent their married life restoring one of the most historic houses in Lilburn, a small, historic town some 20 miles northeast of Atlanta. |

Rowann sewed vintage fabrics into covers and cushions for the well-used bounce chairs, and hung a mirror in a porch corner: Why not?
